The more you know, the more confident you are. Our desire is to provide education, resources, and connections to empower you to know more about all-things-automotive. The decisions you make today can drive the difference in your life tomorrow- and we aren’t just talking about your vehicle!
In 2010, my sister-in-law and I worked together to create WATW. While we both have grown up around vehicles and the automotive industry, neither of us had any sort of depth when it came to knowledge of anything related to a vehicle. At the time, we worked in the Internet department at Jenkins and Wynne and we spent a good part of a year listening and recording questions that people- particularly females- asked us. At that time, the dealership was predominately male. While we didn’t have the answers at the time, we found them, and learned a great deal in the process. We didn’t speak “car-code” or have an agenda; instead, we simplified the answers so that anyone learning about their vehicle could understand.
What you’ll hear from other service departments: “Your tire treadwear is at 4/32” depth. You need tires.” What you’ll hear from us: “Your tires are in the yellow, which means it’s time to start saving money because you will need to replace your tires soon. The normal treadwear is 11/32” depth and yours is at 5/32” depth.” We also have visual aids to help you make an informed decision on your services!
We realized that people wanted to know more about their vehicle but didn’t know where to start, and didn’t want to feel dumb by asking. We also realized what a turnoff car jargon can be. At the time, there were not many informative websites available. That launched the start of Women at the Wheel- a safe space for all-things-automotive. A site where everyone could gather to research on their own terms. Our desire remains the same: to increase awareness and education, and therefore decrease anxiety and stress when it comes to communicating about a vehicle. Whatever your curiosities are and wherever you are in your vehicle journey, our mission is to serve you with excellence so that you can make an informed decision.
Today we have 35% females and a female in every department to include Technician, Parts, Detail, Collision and Sales! In addition, 36% of team members are related to one another. We have generations of families that work at Jenkins and Wynne that proudly serve generations of families in our community.
